Anonymous Avoid I-5 South. Take the winding, scenic coastal highways, if you have time to spare.

Enjoy the scenic drive along Columbia River Gorge. It's beautiful out there. The Columbia River Gorge is a canyon stretching about 80 miles from the Columbia River through the Cascade Mountain Range to the Pacific Ocean. The Gorge forms the border between Washington and Oregon. Columbia River Gorge is a protected National Scenic Area.

Take the following route from Seattle to Columbia River Gorge:

Head south on interstate 5 toward Portland. Take Exit 7 to I-205. Then Exit 27 to Highway 14 East. Once on Highway 14, you can enjoy a beautiful scenic drive with a breathtaking panoramic view across the river to Oregon, different rock formations, and gorgeous waterfalls. The drive takes you past the Bridge of the Gods and the Bonneville Dam.

Visit http://www.crgva.org/ for more information about the Columbia River Gorge or call the Columbia River Gorge Visitor's Association at 800-98-GORGE (46743).

Enjoy your trip from Seattle to Los Angeles!
